Public artwork for Walton High School, Bronx, NY, 1994- 1997
commissioned by Percent for Art, New York Dept. of Cultural Affairs.
12'X23'X5".
bronze, marble, paper.
For
this public work, there are twelve bronze boxes, each with a slot
and a lock, installed on two new walls in the high school lobby,
using salvaged marble from the school. Each box has a different
word on it: WISHES, SUGGESTIONS, FEARS, DREAMS, COMPLAINTS, SECRETS,
FANTASIES, WORRIES, OBSESSIONS, PROBLEMS, IDEAS, and OPINIONS.
Students put papers into the boxes; they are collected and published
regularly in the student activities newsletter. They will be published
yearly in a book to be kept in the library.
